What is the eligibility criteria?
To be eligible for the Higher Level Skills program, individuals must:
- Be aged 15 years or over;
- Be no longer at school;
- Permanently reside in Queensland;
- Be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident (includes humanitarian entrant), temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency, or a New Zealand citizen; and
- Not hold, and not be enrolled in, a certificate IV or higher-level qualification, not including qualifications completed at school and foundation skills training.
To be eligible to complete the:
- CHC52021 – Diploma of Community Services, students must be an Existing Worker in the Community Services and Health industry, which includes parents and unpaid carers of NDIS participants.
- CHC43121 – Certificate IV in Disability Support, students must already hold the Certificate III in Individual Support (or superseded qualification) and be an Existing Worker in the Disability industry sector, which includes parents and unpaid carers of NDIS participants.
- SIT40521 – Certificate IV in Kitchen Management, students must be an Existing Worker in the Tourism and Hospitality industry and must have either three years cooking experience in the industry or have completed the Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.
- CHCSS00070 – Assist Clients with Medication Skill Set, students must be an Existing Worker in the Community Services and Health industry, which includes parents and unpaid carers of NDIS participants. Additional student eligibility requirements are published on www.training.gov.au.
- CHCSS00129 – Individual Support – Ageing Skill Set, students must be a New or Existing Worker in the Community Services and Health Industry in a role involving provision of direct client care or support. Students must already hold a Certificate III in Individual Support (or equivalent).
- CHCSS00130 – Individual Support – Disability Skill Set, students must be a New or Existing Worker in the Community Services and Health Industry in a role involving provision of direct client care or support. Students must already hold a Certificate III in Individual Support (or equivalent).

What are the costs involved?
If eligible for the Higher Level Skills program, a co-contribution fee is required per unit of competency and vary depending on the course.
