Who Should Study a Course In Counselling?

Counselling is a very person-centred, community driven and enriching career. It requires you to be compassionate and supportive and to possess a natural desire to make a difference in the lives of others. The CHC51015 Diploma of Counselling suits someone seeking to work in an established counselling agency rather than practising independently.

CHC51015 Diploma of Counselling Course Delivery

We have expert counsellors teaching the CHC51015 Diploma of Counselling course who have extensive professional counselling experiences. They help students to build a foundation of crucial counselling and communication skills through theoretical and practical learning.

The course is delivered over a 12-month period with a flexible learning approach and taught online with the added benefit of trainer support sessions at our Gold Coast, Toowoomba and Townsville campuses.

Students must complete 17 units to achieve the Diploma of Counselling qualification. The course consists of 13 core and 4 elective units reflecting the latest field developments.

The key and most beneficial learning component of the course is work placement. To complete the qualification, students must commit to a minimum of 100 hours in an organisation providing counselling services. This hands-on and real-world learning approach means you’ll learn how to help someone during a crisis, develop a holistic understanding of human behaviour, and understand society and culture’s impact on both positive and negative behaviour patterns.

If you are someone with experience in an industry related to counselling, you may be eligible to enrol in the Diploma of Counselling course as an existing worker. You may get prior learning credits, allowing you to complete the course faster. Contact the Aurora Training Institute enrolment team to discuss your options.
