Studying Community Services

Community service is a general name for a sector that covers many industries. Our community services courses teach students introductory and foundational knowledge that qualifies and opens them up to a broad range of career possibilities. After studying, your personal interests and skills can guide you with what industry or job you want to pursue.

Our community services course has a strong focus on practical training. We want our students to feel confident and be job ready after graduating. All of our community service courses prepare you to work in the community, and we welcome anyone who wants to learn how they can make a career out of supporting others.

There are Aurora Training Institute campuses in the Gold Coast, Robina, Toowoomba and Townsville. However, educating yourself about community service doesn’t need to be bound by location. If you don’t live near one of our campuses, or you can’t attend in-person training, don’t worry. All our community services qualifications can be taught online, allowing you to learn at your own pace.

Choosing the Right Course in Community Services

There are two nationally recognised community service study pathways, a certificate and a diploma. If you’re entirely new to the industry, the CHC22015 – Certificate II in Community Services is a great place to start. This course is an entry-level education course that teaches you foundational knowledge. From there, you can build on your skills and expertise with the CHC32015 – Certificate III in Community Services and the CHC52021 – Diploma of Community Services, which prepares you to work with complex clients and communities in need.

There are minimal or no prerequisites to study, meaning community service courses are open to anyone interested in the field. We offer flexible learning, and at Aurora Training Institute, we can deliver all three courses in an online learning platform.

Most leadership roles in the industry require a diploma qualification, so if you have prior community service experience, the Diploma of Community Services is a great way to upskill and push your career forward.
