Do you work in community services and want to expand your career into supporting people with a disability? An Individual Support – Disability Skill Set can help open up opportunities to step into disability support workers and similar roles, without taking time off your current position.
What are Disability Skill Set courses?
A skill set is a nationally recognised addition to your existing certification, allowing you to develop the necessary skills to legally, safely and empathetically work with people with disabilities. They are ideal for people who have already attained certification to work in individual support or similar support roles but wish to increase their knowledge and skills in more specialisations.
The CHCSS00130 – Individual Support – Disability Skill Set can open pathways to a career as a:
- Disability Support Worker
- Support Worker
- Community Care Worker
- Neighbourhood Care Worker
- Carer
Disability Support Training Skill Set Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for a CHCSS00130 – Individual Support – Disability Skill Set, you must already hold a CHC33021 – Certificate III in Individual Support, or the equivalent. This means students must be new or existing workers in the Community Services and Health Industry in a role involving the provision of direct client care or support. You may or may not already have a specialisation in another area of Individual Support, such as aged care.
